 | USB Plug and Play Dual Channel UART/ FIFO
The USBMOD5 is a second generation USB interface module using the FTDI FT2232C Dual Channel USB UART / FIFO IC. The chip provides two independent channels of communications with your electronics using parallel FIFO or serial interfaces at up to 3 Mbaud. Communications to the host workstation is USB 2.0 Full Speed (12 Mbits /Second) compatible.

The USBMOD4 is a second generation USB interface module using the FTDI FT245BM USB FIFO. It lets you add a USB interface to your robot or other microcontroller project in less than an hour. The USBMOD4 transfers data between your project and a host PC at up to 8 Million bits per second using 12 I/O pins. It can be interfaced to an MCU using memory mapping, DMA or a simple I/O pin interface.
Improvements in this second generation design include reduced external component count, improved power management, cleaner start-up/reset, and an EEPROM which holds USB enumeration data and FT245BM configuration flags. USBMOD4 is not a drop-in replacement for USBMOD2 due to changes in the hardware interface.

The USBMOD transfers data between your project and a host PC using 4 I/O pins in a simple serial interface. It has a maximum data transfer rate of 1000k baud using RS232 or 3000k baud use RS422 or RS485.

USBMOD3 is not a drop-in replacement for USBMOD1 due to changes in the hardware interface.
